Porsche Tool Kit - Making Yer Own

Folks, my car didn't come with the factory tool kit. And I'm not quite ready to buy an original one from the marketplace here. So, I'm looking to make my own. Obviously a couple of screwdrivers (flat and phillips) will go in it, but I'm interested in what Pelicans would include in a basic kit for a daily driver. Car is a '75 targa but has an earlier 2.2 engine with carbs. The goal would be to have a basic set of tools that could deal with minor stuff (replace fan belt, etc) while on the road. If anything major happens, I'm calling AAA and flatbedding her home.

Thanks in advance for your input!

-Screwdrivers (I use a 4-in-1 type from Sears)
-Short screwdriver to adjust carbs (if necessary due to space limitations in your engine compartment)
-Breaker bar and 19mm socket (easier to use than factory lug wrench)
-Factory spark plug tool w/ allen wrench handle
-Fan pulley wrench
-Set of allen wrenches
-Set of open end wrenches
-A couple of rags and a pair of nitrile gloves in case you need to fix something while you're wearing nice clothes
-spare headlamp bulb

I have a small 1/4" drive metric socket set and a roll of ratcheting wrenches that I've started carrying with me. I actually use them more on other people's cars than my own... they've proven to be really handy.

The factory spark plug tool is worth its weight in gold. I dropped a standard spark plug socked off an extension and it was an absolute PITA to get out (although a magnetic pick up would have made it simpler).

I too am making my own tool kit. In addition of what has been listed here, don't forget the tow hook... just in case you need it.

the 19 mm should work for alt/fan nut but check if it has the internal regulator it may be a 24mm

extra fan belt a must , fuses and relays very handy

Or...on an early car, 22 mm

Made by Hazet...the rubber in many factory wrenches has gone bad...this, combined with a short 3/8" drive ratchet works just fine. If you want to go lighter, a 3/8" allan key...
