My A/C will not power on AGAIN

A few weeks ago this happened and with the help of Gerry another member I discovered that the red wire to the relay in the smugglers box was getting no power. At the fuse panel the circuit was dead as well. I was not able to resolve this and my only choice was to run a new fused circuit to the relay and remove the red wire from the panel. Worked like a charm.
Just a few minutes ago I wanted to run an errand and no A/C again, wont turn on. I did a quick check to see if the new circuit is still hot and it is.
If the relay in the smugglers box has power to it and it is clicking what else can it be?

Check to see if you have power at the compressor. Does the blower motor come on?
If the blower comes on (relay working) but no power at the compressor their may be a break in the wire somewhere.

I would be sure that the switch at the A/C compressor clutch is closed when you have your A/C temp and fan switch on. There should be continuity across the two poles at the compressor. Then you know you have power from the relay in the smugglers box.

Your temp switch must be working or you wouldn't hear the relay clicking... I guess the other way is just to see if your A/C compressor pulley is engaged when the engine is running and the A/C is on. Did you look around for freon leaks?

Was out in the car this afternoon, A/C was cold. It is electrical just like last time. Used the car to go to the supermarket with AC came out to go home and the AC is dead, no power.

Check the black wire to the relay (#86). With the car running you should have power to it.
If it does then you should also have power to the red wire (#87) this supplys power to the fan switch in the car which in turn supplys power to the compressor.

Fixed it

Just for kicks and giggles I replaced the relay in the smugglers box and BAM it worked, A/C is back on. My problem is resolved ----- AGAIN.

Glad to hear it.
Got mine all sorted out but have yet to give it a charge.
Maybe i'll let it slide for now as it's been quite cool up here this summer.

Hate to ask, I think I know but - still learning... What is the smugglers box? Any pics?

It's under the carpet in the trunk, has a hinged lid held closed with a clasp.
If A/C equip'd that's where the A/C evaperator and blower is.
