Anyone with recent dealings with Jimmy Deering within the last week or so?

I've had quite a few inquiries from Pelicanites recently about Jimmy Deering because he is still working on my car, or at least I think he is still working on it. But anyway, he has gone MIA on me within the last week. Just wondering if anyone has come across him recently.

Gogar 08-05-2009 06:21 AM

Cue Jimmy to reply and explain how he's been really sick lately.

Seems to me (with no firsthand experience) that Jimmy is really really good, as long as you don't have him do any offsite work for you.

Wavey 08-05-2009 06:26 AM

Let's see... where's that "popcorn" smilie...

I bet the van broke down or maybe the girlfriend's baby was born? Seems plenty of great excuses that have been publicly aired here on Pelican.

Good luck to you!

Doug

POORSH....

Does he have your car ? God, I hope not.

I tried to email him yesterday to dun him for the money he owes me. I know I'll never see it but occasionally he'll actually send me a pittance. The response I got from my email was :

"Jimmy is not here at the moment. He won't be around for quite a while".

This doesn't sound good.

POORSH 08-05-2009 02:08 PM

Unfortunately, he has my '72 in addition to another set of engine/trans and C-suspension.

POORSCH:

God, not another bad situation involving Jimmy!

As a person that did have a good experience, I posted about it. I am so sorry for others that have had things go sour.

I sincerely hope this is resolved quickly and to your satisfaction. I would be going crazy if I were you.

Hang tough!

Mike

POORSH 08-05-2009 04:00 PM

I, like many others, used this site as reference when it came to our cars. It is just sad to see a person make a 180 turn in such a short period of time. Hanging in there.

Drdogface 08-05-2009 04:27 PM

Jimmy did indeed make a 180. When he was up in No. Cal exclusively he did do good work and had more than fair prices. He was liked and trusted universally. Once he moved South it all began to crumble and many people have been hurt badly. He still owes me $6 K which I'll never see but at least he didn't steal my car. I'll do what ever I can to help put him away

McLovin 08-05-2009 04:30 PM

How is that a 180 for Jimmy "Disappearing" Deering? He has a history of it. Much of it documented here (See posts # 2, 4 and 5 above, which allude to that history).

Anyways, hope you get your stuff back. A '72 car and all those parts, losing all of that would be a tough pill to swallow.

POORSH 08-05-2009 04:32 PM

Hope my insurance will help out with some of that bitterness

McLovin 08-05-2009 04:47 PM

Do you know where your car and parts are? Is there any way you can just go and get some or all of it back?

POORSH 08-05-2009 04:58 PM

yes, I have an idea of where it is.

When I started using him in about 2006 or so he had a good rep on Pelican in the No. Cal. area. Lots of guys sang his praise which is how a lot of us found out about him. He came to my house at least five times and did good work. Local P car club guys used him too. He does know his stuff. He stayed until 11:30 one night working on a frozen bolt on a tie rod. Never charged a nickel extra. About late 2007 he moved to So. Cal. I dunned him for the money he owed cuz he said he had no plans to leave the area...blah, blah and he's has never paid. Just BS. Since then he's gotten deeper into the fraud and con game stuff.

I'd call that a 180...

The perple vs

Everyone on this thread asking where he is, what he is doing..

Jimmy is banned from Pelican and can't post. I have talked to him regarding a situation that is on going.

Had been working on a customers car from city of Orange. Customer had paint and body work being done to his car and wanted job rushed. So the customer picked up his car missing Eng/Trans, tie rods and tach all in the middle of being done. He was in the hospital awaiting his newborn possibly being delivered(yes a baby) customer called 911, Jimmy allowed them to enter the shop, Officer allowed "only" car to be taken, and the remaining to civil court. Which turned into ( Mark021 ) refusing to pay Jimmy for his work, so he holds the property till further notice. Now with customer not willing to pay, and Jimmy not giving back engine, cust has reported engine stolen, trying to avoid paying Jimmy the 2k he owes.

I have spoke to him, and he has told me he let ros911 B-inlaw will make another trip to deliver motor, since he can only fit so much in his van. Poorsch, well knows the situation at hand. Drdogface, well seems like a personal issue, since I have heard you spread bad comments about Jimmy and slowed his work load, so that's another story.

Jimmy need to dump his wide range so when he gets sick, or has issues this don't turn up. Jimmy if you read this, Socal is all you need! You got talent, and dealing with people that don't like to pay, isn't worth the hassle. Let's do lunch to catch up!

Since this thread will be closed soon. I got a $1000 to the first guy that gets off his comp, goes to the next Pcar swapmeet and gives Jimbo your 2 cents of trash talk.
Seems to me like to many speak of him, and don't know him. Too many abuse being behind the comp screen. He is a great guy, knows his stuff. Just don't piss him off! I can vouch for that, cause we are all human.

While few would argue Jimmy's life seems perfect for a reality show, it seems like the paging Jimmy Deering and updates should be somewhere else?

No offense to any of the parties involved.
Maybe OffTopic or Maybe Myspace / Facebook?

just a thought,
Doug

HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA! Comedy! What a class act!

To those who have issues with this guy, join toether, get a good attorney and go HARD!

"Business" people who don't return calls, take forever to produce the goods and who are "unavailable" for extended periods of time just don't get it. They need to find another line of work. Something that doesn't involve "customer service". Just my $0.02.

I am sorry I started this thread. This has taken on a completely different tone. All I wanted to know was whether Jimmy was around or not. Thought maybe something was wrong with his phone or he was out of town or something, but this is getting ugly with an uglier tone.

Moderator, please delete this thread before someone gets hurt.

Jimmy has not been banned from Pelican. After being contacted by numerous people in various capacities, I have quietly suspended Jimmy's account and told him to take his dealings offline. I will reinstate his account if/when he gets his act together. The Porsche 911 Technical Forum here is not the place for threads like this - any future threads about Jimmy or MobileWerks will be immediately shut down, deleted or closed. Frankly, I'm tired of all of the issues / drama, and I don't really have time for this.
