CIS Aluminum Air Box install help on 911 SC
Recently purchased an aluminum air box to replace the cracked original in an 83SC. I am having one hell off a time trying to get it back in with the partial engine drop. Does anyone who has installed one of these have any pointers on getting it back in? I have spent over 20 hours to no avail. Have tried with runners on, runners off, just 5 & 6 on, etc., etc., etc. would it make sense to split the box in halves and approach it that way? Is there a step by step installation process I could follow? Have searched the forums but have not found the level of detail I'm looking for. Any suggestions would be helpful-Thanks! Sean

I have one of those alum air boxes but it was installed when the engine was out. Don't know if that was the requirement or the wrench just thought it would be easier that way. Good luck.

Don't know if it's much help but I had a new plastic airbox installed a few years back and it was done with the engine in situ so yours should go straight in. There will be something simple/small stopping this working for you

It`s just a bit hard to get all the runners to fit. Time and a extra set of hands helps

man your old one broke clean . I would hav eglued it and reinstalled it ... i know it doesn't help.
There is definitelty patience involved when I did mine i only worried about the back 4, if oyu position your clamps right you can do the front 2 after you drop it in. I hope you used factory sleeves. If not it can be a real bear . The facrory sleeves allow you some play and are pliable for this reason . Sorry I couldnt be more help . |
