BMW Roundel I want to rebuilt my 915 transmission

I'm currently in the process of rebuilt my engine 1978 3.0. I want to also rebuilt my transmission since I've never drive my Porsche. I'm also re surfacing the flywheel and getting a brand new clutch. Now I've noticed that ******auto.com has a deal to exchange my 915 tranny for a rebuilt 915 tranny for $1899. I wanted to know if this was a good deal and if anyone else has every dealt with ******auto.com for a tranny.
Thanks

The place you mention (even though blanked out, we know who they are) for exchange does not have a great rep on transmissions. Their rebuilts aren't exactly rebuilt at all, so a BIG BUYER BEWARE.
Where are you located ? ( you should fill that part in)
There are reputable places to rebuild yours but what leads you to believe it needs rebuilding in the first place?

Well I figured since I've never driven the car and I'm not sure how the transmission was treated by the prior owner I figured I would rebuilt it so I wouldn't have any head aches later since the engine is alreadly out. I'm located in Queens, NY.

Thanks guys for the replys

If you planned to ship, then my recommendation is Reiser-Technik near Rochester, NY.
Reiser Technik

Joel has rebuilt my transmission which had over 140k on it and had seen some vigorous track duty. My 2nd and 3rd were problematic and are now completely cured. He will work with you on sourcing parts (read cost savings) as needed and is as genuine a guy as you could ever meet. He is an excellent mechanic and highly recommended.
