Porsche 911S Weber conversion hose question

I have 911S from 1970 with weber conversion. Everything work perfect but have one question about hose. One hose from crankcase is going to right side panel and it is OK. I have also filter on oil tank inlet side and it is OK too. But from second side is coming unplug hose from down of engine I cant see now that is coming from cooler or other thing ( what could be if not oil cooler?) . From inner side (engine view)you have unplug hole.
When engine is hot I have a lot of fumes from it . where should it be connected or maybe I could plug it (I don't thing so ), or put some filter on. Here you have pictures . Any idea or photos from your cars?

Here you have some pictures but low quality hope that you will see it

not sure but this may be an oil breather hose

try a search on that term

you will want to install a catch can too

what is "second side"?

My '73 was converted to Webers in 1977 by PMO (wonder what ever happended to the original MFI?). I can look when I get home tomorrow, but I don't recall any hoses in the area you've shown.

My second 911S is from 1969 and didn't have those hose on driver side so if somebody have it pls sent pictures where it comes on MFI or better on Weber converted S.
And when I drive for more than 15 min and stop I can see fumes going out of this hole.

It looks like the fitting for the hose that connects from the heat exchanger to either the fuel injector thermostat on injected cars, or the warm air for the carburetor on carbureted cars. If this is the case, the 'fumes' that you see exiting this hole is either heat-distorted air, or burning oil spillage / leakage on the heat exchangers.

Is this hole connected to anything on the underside of the car?

A better lighted photo would be a real help.

John.

There is hose under car on left side (driver side) that comes down under and from inside engine bay you see hole like on previous picture. I cant see from where it comes and all technical documentation I have in office. So I am not sure from where it comes here ( oil cooler?)

Yes, this is for hot air from the heat exchanger. This was used on the carbureted and fuel injected cars. It the system were hooked up, there would be a small pipe coming out of the left side heat exchanger, taking hot air that is directed to the 'cabin' of the car. This hot air was used to let the fuel injector know that the car was warming up, and for the carbureted cars, used to all warm air into the intake air to prevent carbureter icing. You really do not need this for webers, if you are not driving in freezing or near freezing conditions. What year car is this on?

Ooops! I see that it is a 1970 S. That car came with MFI.

AFAIK, it's for MFI vehicles. Vehicles with Webers don't have this feature on the sheet metal nor heat exchangers.

definitely used on MFI cars - there will be an elbow on the LH SSI or heatexchanger for that hose

1. pull the hose
2. save it if in good shape
3. plug the hole
4. buy a new camera

you're done.

Let's see... The weber cars did have heat for the carbs. Check out diagram 106-00 from Pelican Parts download: E_911-1_KATALOG.pdf, and there you will see the air cleaner nozzle with the pipe for hot air. Carb icing is not nice and happens a few degrees plus-minus freezing. It will kill you in a Cessna, and stop your car on the road.

Can you post the URL to this section? I looked but couldn't locate it.

I looked here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/911_1969.htm

Thanks,

Ooops, sorry, too cryptic. Look for this line that's always showing up in these forums:

Porsche Owners: Try our new Parts Diagrams system

and download the first 911 catalog. Porsche started with the six solex carbs, but they had many problems (I worked, unsuccessfully, on one of these years ago). The problem was solved with the triple throat weber carbs that we value so much these days. Porsche went to MFI for the 911 S and E in 69, and must have gone to Zenith about then.
