NYC Metro Area Engine Drop - anyone willing to lend a hand?
Hey folks...looking to drop my engine this Sunday. I could use some extra hands and moral support if anyone is interested. I am an engine drop virgin...its my first time.
Pic of the patient for inspiration: ![]() I'm in Jersey City...easy access via public transport (PATH), and close to the Holland Tunnel.

Unfortunately I am completely slammed this weekend-- be sure to download my "ultimate engine drop checklist" and update it for the 930 items. . . and BE CAREFUL. For your first time the most important thing is "do no harm" to yourself or the car-- you read about guys dropping the motor in 45 minutes which can be done, but in your case, take a couple hours and verify each step before proceeding.
I mean, you have to get the arse end of the car like 36 inches in the air, that doesn't sound like a lot but the car is basically standing on its nose-- make extra certain you have reliable jacks and jack stands and lots of them. Good luck!
