Early '73 fuel tank installation
In the process of installing the fuel tank after rust treatment and flushing.
This is the only time the tank has been removed and the gasket material was for the most part, missing. So---it was impossible to see where the gasket seals and if it should be applied to the body sheet metal or the tank before it is dropped into the hole. Anyone with this experience should bless me with their knowledge and I will be forever grateful! Well----maybe for a day or so. Is the stock gasket the same for top or bottom? How thick is it supposed to be? Thanks, anyone!! Grampy |

Apply to sheet metal. It is high density black foam. Save some money and just go to the local hardware store and buy a roll of 1/2" thick high density black door foam insulation. Should run you around $4.00.

along the edge of the tank, not the body.
