Horn Relocation Kit

Getting ready to update my 80SC from trombone to carrera oil cooler without fan for now. Got all parts except the pictured "horn relocation kit" which is NLA. Right inner fender support is PN 911-504-080-00 or 911-504-080-00GRV. Is there a difference in the stock part itself or is the "kit" something special? Can I just use a regular Carrera fender support, fab a horn bracket and move it forward? Anyone holding on to a "kit" they care to part with or a stock fender support if that can be used with a fabbed horn bracket and relocated?

Haven't had my horns off in a while, but as I recall the bracket is nothing special that you couldn't fab up from some strap steel.

Hi Charlie, I don't have an answer for your question today... but I'm planning the same upgrade for my 78. So please post progress reports as you go along with this project! Thanks!

I did this a couple of years ago (elephant cooler) and didn't have to move the horns on my 82SC. I was able to push each horn forward at its base - each horn is on a smaller, more flexible bracket that attaches to the larger bracket (if I recall correctly).

However, I believe that if you ever add the fan you will have to relocate the horns.

Try to test fit first.

It is nice to get a helper with this job. Makes it easier to align and manipulate the fittings.
