MSD Ignition help

OK, I'm baffled. I apologize in advance for what are probably stupid questions but I have only had my 911 for just over a year now and I am still learning a lot. In addition, although I enjoy working on my car, I am at best a weekend mechanic with basic skills and experience.
SO, I bought the book "101 Projects" and have been doing a few things to my car. One of the highly reccomended projects was to install am MSD ignition unit. I got a great deal on a new 6AL on ebay and I have been reading over the manual and looking at my car figuring out just where to start with the install. The project said it was for "all years" of 911 but I am getting a bit stumped. My car is a 1989 Cabrio, pre 964.

First stupid question - where is the cd unit located on my car? I assume I need to disconnect and remove before I install the new MSD?

Second stupid question - Where have you guys mounted your MSD units? It looks like I could build or modify the bracket under the plastic panel in the drivers side engine compartment - I thought the CD unit was under there but I don't see it - but I would have to relocate what I think is a blower relay to get it out of the way? Pictures would be helpful here.

Third stupid question - is the installation of the MSD unit even possible an '89 911? After doing some searches here I am begining to wonder as most all of the MSD look to be installed in early or mid 80's cars. According to "101 Projects" it is highly recommended on all years but could it be a typo?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I really hate to be the one to suggest this, but use the search function...seriously.:)

I have - several times - but I'm not getting the info I need.

First of all, No need to put one of these on a motronic fuel injected car.

Second, Try searching a little harder ;)

I personally found installing one very helpful:

Your car has a 3.2 liter engine with a Bosch electronic engine management system (aka Motronoic or DME). This module handles timing, spark generation, and fuel injection. Only earlier engines up to 3 liter use the CDI ignition systems.

You can safely sell the MSD unit for the next "lucky" guy.

Thanks everyone - looks like I have a decision to make. My car feels a big sluggish in the lower rpms so I'll probably hook it up as described for a test run to see if it makes a difference.
