Lsd question

Customer said he's been told that a 944 lsd will fit in a 901 trans with different side bearings? Anyone know if this is correct? I know 930 and 924 lsd are the same

915, 930 and 931 LSD are the same. Observe that 924 N/A uses "Audi" transmission thus only 931 (=924 Turbo with "snail" dogleg tranny and dodgy 915 innards) has 915/930 compatible diff.
Also, later 930/915 LSD's got fewer plates than old ones.

924 N/A and 944/968 use new "Audi" gearbox...I suspect theirs differentials cannot fit into 901.

excellence had a shop how to on lsd in a 944 a little while back and ststed the 915 tranny in the 944 was shown and the 915 -911 tranny was similar and the lsd could be done with engine in in the 911 but had to come out for the 944

dont know if that helps but ?????????

944 differential will not fit in a 901. 944 is an 016 Audi gearbox, 901 is a Porsche box. Very different beasts. Feel free to contact me directly if I can be of further assistance.
