2.0l Compression
 
I can't seem to find the compression specs for my 69' 2.0l motor. I did a search and didnt find anything but maybe I missed it. If someone could tell me what is the exceptable range Id appreciate it.. Im a little off on one cyl in terms of percentage but overall I think Im "ok"..

values in pressure per sq inch
#4 170
#5 150
#6 165
#1 165
#2 140
#3 150

full throttle, plugs out, car warm.

I think I'll retest #4 and hope its a little lower ;)

Jeepers.. I saw that thread and reread it and still dont see what my 2 litre should be.. am I missing something? I guess if you are thinking the compression ration is what would tell me that I dont know what that is either.. but I'll look for that next.

The test pressure value is a function of the compression ratio of your engine and the elevation above sea level that the test was done. (Higher altitudes mean lower starting atmospheric pressures and therefore lower values.) If you can't read the chart give me your engine CR and your elevation and I'll tell you what your test should read.

I guess Im at about 750 feet and my cr is 8.6:1.. so my readings are high..

I retested #4 and its now 150psi.. go figure.. hmmmm

According to the chart on the thread mentioned above my max should be 134psi.. Could carbon build up explain the higher pressures I am seeing?

I think the variance suggests a problem, not the absolute value.

Yeah a problem with my gauge more than likely.. I have another I'll try tomorrow with a better gauge.
