Sights & Scenes from 2009 Petit le Mans

No music, just random video I shot yesterday & today. In the middle is the entire first pit stop for the #45 Flying Lizard Porsche which I shot thru the fence. The race got called after 3+ hour rain red flag so I had plenty of time to fire up Windows MovieMaker. Hope you enjoy it:

This shot is not in the video - but I wanted to share it. I love this - so true, too!

I want to see pics of the Porsche mud pit.

I ended up being out of town but heard about the storm that caused a lot of problems.

Happy to accommodate....witness Mud Wrestling for Porsches!

Actually, this first one was the GOOD parking - where all the 356s and Porsche corporate cars and the like parked.

And this is where the rest of us parked - that white car looks so much like mine, but it's not - mine is right behind it, blocked in by the yellow Cayman (LOVE!)

VroomGrrl,
Thanks for the video. Saturday was such a rainy mess. You were lucky being in the tent. I was at the gate most of the time. Still washing off the Ga. clay...
By the way, nice to meet you and hope you get down to some more of our events.

You know, you same guys were at the gate all weekend weren't you? I'm sorry if you didn't get any relief! And let me just thank you for being out there! Were there not enough people signed up to share the work? Or are you a masochist, or what?

I tried to call Bob S last night around 7:45, I was headed back up there, just sure that they'd go green for the last hour and change, and wanted to be sure I could get my car in there on the hardpack I was almost there when I heard the announcement that they flew the checkers. Bleah.

It was great to meet you too and I will look forward to seeing you again, hopefully before next year's Petit le Mans.

We are all masochists, right? Thankfully all of us were under the tent during the heavy rain. I did get my car into the gravel just before the big rain fell, so I easily got home. I did get yelled at by one person when we closed the gate due to lousy parking conditions, but that happens every year it seems...

Greg I was curious if there was any car carnage in our corral - it was treacherous! Glad you got out OK. I wonder how many folks we had up there? I'm sorry one of them biotched at you, but hey the rest of us did not!

I don't know who owns that yellow Cayman, but it was a mess when I left. ( I was parked next to it) It looked like someone in a big 4x4 truck had backed up next to and proceeded to sling mud all over it.

When I got home, I thought I would survey the mud damage. I did a once-around the car and thought, 'well, that is not as bad as I thought it would look'. Then I proceeded to crawl under the car with the hose and holy cow what a flood of red GA clay came pouring out of every orafice. I then spent the next two hours hosing the mud slide off of my driveway (are we still under a watering ban here?).

People that parked in the corral cannot be upset with the PCA. When I arrived, the folks manning the gate were very forthright that it was an absolute mess - everyone had the option to park elsewhere. Hell parkling in the corral was just part of the adventure. Thanks to all the folks thaty helped coordinate this - this year was my third Petite, and I will definatley be back again.

Here is the Viper crash that I caught on video.
YouTube - Petit Lemans 2009 Viper Crash

Here is a quick video to show how bad the rain was. It rained like this for over two hours. After that it was still raining until about 7:00pm, just not as hard.
YouTube - Petit Lemans 2009 Rain

Here are the die hard fans in the PorschePlatz tent. We didn't leave until the race was called. You can see the ground completely soaked with water.

Here is my car before I drove it out of the muddy field. It is a complete mess now and needs many hours of cleaning!
