Hi all,
I'm doing a full body strip to bare metal, and came upon the sticker at the driver side door jamb(?) with the date of manufacture on it. How do I take this off, safely? I've tried using the razor blade technique...didn't work too well. Or is it way too old for me to do it? Could I order a duplicate of it somewhere? Thanks! ------------------ Jeff 1976 911S |

It's not coming off- they made 'em to self destruct when tampered with. This was made back in car-thieving heyday...
It is possible that PCNA could get a reissue, but it would be difficult- I imagine you'd have to supply documentation on par with or exceeding that of an IRS field audit. Make some phone calls to them (PCNA, not IRS), perhaps ask Bruce Anderson also. Good luck, let us know what happens, -d ------------------ Dave 1972 911T (E motor) RSR replica project http://members.nbci.com/dtwinters/garage/ |

Funny you ask, just yesterday i was at the body shop were they are paiting my car and that was one subject, to remove it must likely with the air tool brush type,to order it you must have the tittle or registration of the car and your drivers lic,(foto copys)and thru your local porsche dealer and $100 US Dollars and 2 months later you will have it,that simple so i was told, hope this helps

Mask it off carefully...you will destroy it if you try to remove it. After the paint job, clean up any excess paint around the edges with a single edged razor blade and/or some mild solvent like acetone.

Thanks guys for the info. $100! Ha! My dealer can kiss my ass. I don't think so! I really want to get down to the metal, though. I have to make sure there is NO existence of rust. Does having this sticker really matter?
Juan, since your car is at the body shop, is it almost ready to get back on the road? Dave-I checked with Bruce Anderson, he doesn't know either. ------------------ Jeff 1976 911S |
