Oil blow-back
74+ oil tank, took breather line off (st the tank) ran engine and blew oil (copious amounts) out the open line. The line went into a "valve" into the carbs. Glad it was unhooked. Oil level is correct. Just does not seem right. Any thoughts? I would like to sleep tonight.

When you say oil level is correct, is it while running and warm? Could be a broken ring or worn cylinders giving you the blowby.

Ck oil after 15 min. D-stick was below max. Did not ck while running, oil tank was hot if that is important. Don't like to think ring or cylinder... Will sleep less. Cannot run till tomorrow am

Oil has to be checked with the engine running, on a level surface and oil at operating temp. The dry sump system pumps the oil from the tank and back while running, so you can only check the level while running. My guess is you have it over full and it only takes a slight amount over to make a mess. Don't worry about it, sleep well and check correctly in the am.
