Bendpak mid rise lift was my choice. Great quality, easy to use, portable. Best for doing work on the car and least intrusive. If you don't like it, sell it and try a 4 post.

The only thing I don't like about this type of lift is that it's hard on my older targa. If I were going to do a lot of work on that car I would consider a four post just to avoid the body sag from the this type of lift.

I bought mine from Eagle a bunch of years ago. Free delivery and aluminum ramps. I bought the longer version so I can stack race tires and bunch of other stuff along with the car. I spread the ramps and cut a notch out on the inside of each ramp so I can drop the motor. I recently bought a sliding jack so I can raise the wheels off the lift.

Make your choice on how your going to use it. 4 post if it's more for storage, 2 post if you plan to work on the cars a lot.

Autobonrun: What did you think of the AAE quality, build & materials??
I have a 24 x 44 building with one end having a side door & cathederal celing to 13 ft and rebar & thick pad for a lift. and AAE has been sending out the attached ad for the last couple months, 2 post lift 9,000 lb at $1295.
Sounds like a smoking deal, wondering on the product quality.

Or anyone else using AAE products???
Was looking used with all the shops going out, a guy in Charlotte has used lifts but this pricing for new looks pretty damn good if a good quality.

Regards

Mine was $1600 installed. Nice thick steel, 9000lbs capacity. Runs 220 which I already had in the shop. I've been nothing but pleased.

I went for the MaxJax since my gagage ceiling is only 8 ft. Sitting on a small roll around stool works great- and restful too! I actually look forward to under-car stuff now.

Autobonrun, Yours isn't bolted down is it? It looks pretty good. If you grab it and give it a good shake, how stable is it with a car in the air? I know I sound paranoid but I've seen videos posted by a couple manufacturers and they just seem flimsy.

bans25, PM sent.
Thanks, John

I have the exact same lift ( without the bendpak sticker - mine came straight from the chinese manufacturer ). I am very happy with it. The only caveat is these lifts only go to 1800mm high, so you can't walk under the tires if you're more than about 5'8" tall. I did a reasonable amount of research, and decided on a two post for working on the car, and a clear floor design for obvious reasons.

Yes there is I work for Automotive Lift & Alignment ( Automotive Lift & Alignment ). We are a Distributor for Direct Lift here in Michigan. We offer a full line of Automotive lifts like 2 post and 4 posts. Our models are very comparable to bend paks as we are a branch of Dover which owns Rotary lift. We offer a 110 power unit mid rise lift check it out on our website

quote - I went with the AAE (American Automotive Equipment) 4 post. It fits easily in my garage (125") clearance. When calculating overall cost don't forget to add in the cost to modify the garage door to clear the top car, and if you want extra space, a wall mounted door opener. I went with the LiftMaster. This is an old photo and still shows the ceiling mounted opener but you can see how much extra space gets cleared with it gone.
^^^^
Your lift actually appears to me to be a Direct Lift DP7 which is one of our older 7k cap. four post lifts. They are a great lift for storage and light duty repairs i am new here but will be happy to answer any questions you may have, obviously i am slightly partial to Rotary Lift and Direct Lift but i try to give honest information and opinions and let the customer decide for himself, so please feel free to ask me some of your questions.

And to the guy who asked if the rolling jacks stay on the lifts yes they do and the go down pretty low so you still have drive over clearance.

I have the Backyard Buddy. I've had it for several years and it has served me well. I use it mostly to add parking space. I keep the 911 on the lift and park my daily driver underneath. When I was looking, the locking mechanism on the Backyard Buddy was superior to all other in the way that it had locking dogs that actually got captured in the slots and wouldn't come loose, even if one of the posts got hit. Also, the thing is heavily built. The posts and rails have walls that are probably 1/4"-3/8" thick. The four posts are a bit of a space consumer, but I'm living with it.

I have a Direct Lift 9000# from Greg Smith- works great. I prefer the two post over the mid rise due to unlimited access to the bottom of any vehicle, and you can still perform wheel end service that you can't do on a 4 post.

KC

Had to do the ramp too but I got a bit more ceiling clearance (usual 9') and with the top down I can still lift with the garage door opener in the car, so I run out of lift before lift room.

Do you have enough clearance to sit underneath the car?

Does look like you ramp are not thigh to each other (I got lots of camber, so they use to spread out when lowering).

Your right, love it and could not do without.

J.J.
