How to read the factory wiring diagrams
 

Is there a book, website, or other source that explains what all the little symbols, letters and numbers on a factory wiring diagram mean? Like, triangles with numbers inside, weird looking symbols, numbers with no explanation or apparent reference, etc.

I also can't figure out what the double-line things are that run perpendicular to (across) certain wires.

It would be nice if there were a glossary of all the symbols somewhere. Does anybody know a good source for this info besides an electrical engineering textbook?
