parking break internals?
 

Hello all,
a couple weeks ago my parking break got stuck in the "on" position(thankfully in my garage) my dad and I took it apart and I am wondering what parts to order to fix this... here is a picture of the parts that came out after being lodged in, freezing the brake up.

sorry about the crappy quality... - cell phone pic... the round thing is broken(edges of the hole are broken out) and im not sure if i need to replace the other stuff. SmileWavy

That spring/pin/washer combo holds the brake shoe against the backing plate.

The washer goes over the pin and then you turn it to lock it in place.

Here are diagrams from the Pelican catalog to see what part numbers you may need.http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_BRKpad_pg5.htm#item17 I can't tell if the hole in the washer is any good or not. It should be rectangular in shape. If it is rusty or more round, then get new ones.

Could you post a close up picture of the pin? The back end of the pin should have a large flat head. Does the spring/pin/washer assemnbly stay securely in place? Unless the brake shoe linings are worn out, you could simply replace the old rusty spring/pin/washer assemblies with new ones (while you're there). And they are not that expensive.

i think that is exactly what it is. Thanks for the help guys - this board never fails! the hole is ripped on the washer and it wont stay locked... i'll be ordering a few. - the pin does have a large flat head on the back end

If not, your FLAPS will have them. A pair of pliers will work but this tool makes it much easier. Push and twist boys, push and twist.:D
