72 - 2 out of my 3 pedals are creaky squeaky

Hello everyone,

My brake and gas pedals are making "creaky and squeaky" noises. I'm sure it is a bushing on the brake pedal and I'm not sure what it could be on the gas. What is the best (easiest) fix for this? I will probably redo the floorboards also. Are there rebuilt pedal assemblies or do I just replace bushings or some how lub the bushings? I really like my brake pedal position, stiffness and feeback and don't want to mess anything up by misadjusing something.

TIA,

Scott

They make bronze pedal bushings that pelican sells which are probably the best. You can take the whole assembly out, and if you do not have the means, bring assembly down to local porsche indy and they can press them in for you. Makes all the difference in the world.

+1 on the bronze bushing from Pelican. Mostly a pretty straight forward job, the only tough part is the compression pin that holds the clutch pedal on. Maybe take it to a shop to remove/install that pin for you.

Great year for a targa! I drove around the first year I owned my car with a shoe lace tied to the gas pedal to pull it up at stop lights as she needed new pedal bushings. Great project and it will make driving a lot more fun. Also, you should buy Wayne's book '101 Projects' and it has details for the pedal bushing project.

I did it a few months ago. I agree the only hard part was that pin holding the clutch pedal on. DON"T try and use a bolt instead. Take it to a shop to press out and in.
