Bad Window Switch

I have went through 3 driver side power window switches in the last month. I first one went half way down and stopped. The second went down and up and stopped. The last one went down and stopped after one week. I have ordered and had replace without question three from our forum sponser so far. Does anyone know where to get good quality switches.

Did you buy the cheaper "German" brand switch or the Genuine Porsche part?

PP only has one switch listed. where do you get the porsche one

Is there a way to make the window switches last. I just received my fourth one to day and thr window works great. Are there any better switches than the german make ones.

RT,

Stick with Porsche switches.

Good luck,

Gerry

From my experience, the good ones have copper terminals and cost around $20 or more.

The BS ones that only last a few minutes or so and usually sell for about $14 have silver colored terminals. I bought one of those first time and it lasted on the passenger door about 10 up and down cycles of the window and then took a dump.

I keep a spare copper terminal one in the glovebox now.

My experience has been that the Porsche brand window switch fails just as quick as the knockoffs.

Anyone ever open up the switch to see what happened internally? Mine was the OE Porsche and it was heat. I did have some corosion on the terminals, not extremely bad but there are some.

The thre I have purchased fro PP have failed due to bad contacts. They all show signs of burnt contacts and pitting of the contact faces. The contacts must be arching, but the work in one direction of the other. I have taken all of the old ones apart and they look the same.

then mine has different issue. Mine only burn the plastic pin and plastic chambers around the copper contact plate. All copper parts look fine.
