Good paint shop recommend in NY / NJ /LI area ?
I have seen a car i really like but I hate the color thats on it now, but the original color is one of my faves. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy paint shop in NY or LI or even NJ that could give me a reliable quote.
I think i need this before I make an offer. Thanks

I don't know if it's too far from you, but there's a large, outstanding paint shop in Vails Gate, New York, near where I live: Quality Autobody, and the owner, Mickey Bigg, is a good friend. If you want to give me the particulars of the car--bodywork needed, do you want a serious windows-out job, what kind of paint and color you want, etc.--I can run over and ask Mickey what it'd cost.
They painted a cover car for me when I was the editor of Car and Driver--one of our project racecars--and I've plenty of work done there since. They're a big shop, not an effete restoration specialist, and they do mostly insurance collision work, but they do plenty of Mercedes, Lexuses, BMWs, the occasional exotic. their work is absolutely first-class, I guarantee it. Half a mile down the road is Tom Florio's independent Porsche shop, Advanced Auto, so they have easy access to any needed seals, replacement parts, Porsche expertise, etc.

We have a paint shop we use .. right around the corner from us... As FSW mentioned in his post.. this is a shop that does insurance work... they do some specialty work..
Ventura in Freeport.. Our shop is a minute from Meadowbrook Pkwy and Merrick Rd.. The paint shop is close also This car was painted by the shop we use http://www.rudtnersracing.com/padover.php

(516) 883-9003 I've had him do some work for me on Audis, my M3 and my Porsche- I will be bringing my decklid and spoiler to him to paint them red as well.. I had my 911 out at Detailing Dynamics for the detailing clinic this past spring and they were impressed and couldn't find which pannels had been painted till I showed them..... Keep in mind, paint isn't cheap. If you want your whole car painted a different color you could easily be talking $5-7K depending on the condition and the current color. He does insurance work, specialty work and restorations as well...
