I'm still having problems with my weber carbs, I don't think I'm getting full power and have a flat spot between 3500 and 4500 RPM so last weekend I checked out what size jets I have.
Idle jet - 52 Main Jet - 125 Air correction - 170 E-tubes - F25 (this may be 2.5 but I'm not sure) Are these the right sizes to use with a standard 71 2.2L 911T engine? Would I gain much by changing them? thanks Martin ------------------ Martin '70 911T |

you need at least a .55 idle jet. maybe a hair larger yet if it lacks low end pickup. up the main to 130. f26 should be the emulsion tube size stock. on a 70T it would work ok. air corrector is ok. set timing to 35° at full advance.

i also have a 1970 2.2t with webbers(40idtp13c1) i pulled out my jets and they are 45's, my questions is, are these two small?

How do I check this, I know very little about carbs. I see people say to pull the jets out, but where and how?

John, mine "pops and farts" a little bit until warm. Why is that? Runs like a top after warm (just rebuilt 2 weeks ago at dealer). Should I be concerned? I really like the way it runs now.

there are no chokes on the webers, so the cold run may pop and fart a bit, until it warms up a little, even on the best tuned engines. small (.45, .50) idle jets aggrevate the condition, and really don't allow the engine to run well at low rpm, even when it's hot. .55 to .60 is generally used, depending on engine size and cams. the gas was obviously better back then.
