Mid Atlantic area help

I've got a list of things I want to do to my car (as we all do) but I'm running into a bit of a problem: I have a hard time buying large expensive items online. There are two main concerns - Shipping and quality/fitment. I don't mind paying for quality but I do mind paying for something that isn't what I thought it would be and I especially don't like having to pay to ship it back if it doesn't meet standards.
I'm considering a new deck lid, new seats, exhaust, tires, front valance, and other items. These items carry a pretty hefty shipping fee (well, not the tires. I can get those from Tire Rack). Is there somewhere in the Mid Atlantic area that has these things that I can see? There may even be things that I "need" that I'm not aware of until I see them. I live close to Phila and I've got no problem taking a nice drive to go check out places. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know any stores that sell those type of things around here.

I'm sure there is a race shop that sells bucket seats somewhere in the area, but I don't know of one specifically. Also don't forget outside of DE we pay sales tax. So a pair of seats that cost 1400 will have another $91 in taxes (using PA's 6.5% sales tax), plus tolls, time, and gas.

A good place for you to look would be at the Hershey swap meet. Unfortunetly for you that will not happen again until April 2010. There are 1000's of parts there to look over.

I think you can count on any fiberglass piece not fitting correctly. At least I would make that assumption going in.

What kind of exhaust are you looking for? There are some local companies that sell their own stuff, but if you want SSI's or an M&K muffler pelican and shipping is your best bet. IT will fit your car as long as you order correctly. Again if you could find it locally the taxes would put you almost on par with shipping expenses.

I have an old front valence from a 1980 SC you can have it you want it. I have used exhaust stuff too, but not for free.

Pictures. Look at lot's of pictures. there are thousands of them here on PP that have been taken around the country.

Find out when the next auto-X is for the Delaware chapter of PCCA, I hear there may be one in october at the Dover air base.

I think Wilmington has a chapter of the PCCA that meets once a month. A great place to see other cars and talk to their owners.

The Mid-Atlantic isn't like California, It takes a little more effort and a little more time to get Porsche related projects done around here.

Ahhh, Summit Point. I know it well. Nice looking car Benp911.

Thanks for the input guys. It's funny, when I was posting I figured someone would bring up Hershey. I'm not against waiting to check things out I was just hoping to get a jump before next spring.
