Question One For The Books

Here’s one for the books. Finally a nice weekend and I decided it was time to pull the p-car out of winter storage. Removed the cover and rolled her out into the sunlight, opened the doors and what do I find? I find that my car is infested with ANTS. Okay, you can stop laughing now. I don’t want be worrying about ants crawling all over me while I’m trying to drive, so any suggestions on this problem? Do I call the exterminator? (That should be fun explaining) Do I set off one of those bombs inside the car and if so, will that have any effects on the electrical system? I guess I could sit there and try to kill them one at a time.

Try a vacuum cleaner; thats what I did when I found ants in my kitchen. Its the next best thing to a pet anteater. You must have had some messy eater(s) sitting in your car. Ants would not be there unless attracted by food residues. You can also get little tims with small openings and poison inside; just leave them in the car. I would not use a "bug bomb;" that stuff is powerful and toxic to humans too. And it can also stain upholstery, plastic, carpet, etc.

Steve,

Take the ants for a ride...who knows, they might die from too much acceleration or sharp turns....

also, make sure the are all over your face as you pay the Toll Pike worker

Hey Steve....Do you have any kids? You could let them turn your car into a science project. (Sorry for that)
I *would* call an exterminator for advice.
If it's happened to you, it's probably happened to other people as well.
Maybe there is a cheeseburger under the seats. (Sorry, once again)

Thanks guys, I knew this topic would cause some comments such as these. But that’s okay. We all need to have fun and I don’t mind. I like the one about having ants all over my face when I pull up to the tollbooth. Actually the car was thoroughly cleaned inside and out before it went into storage. So, no burgers left hiding anywhere. I guess these ants have an appreciation for fine things as well. This should make for an interesting weekend project. Maybe Excellence would like to do an article on this one….NOT. Okay, everyone over to my place and don’t forget to bring your magnifying glasses. “Ant Roast Party”

Put several ant TRAPS in there now, and then plan on pulling out the seats and carpet for a through cleaning this weekend. Put traps under the seats, behind the seats, in the glove box, a few in the trunk etc. I would not use a spray or fog for several reasons.

I could not imagine much worse than to be in a tight, fast, controlled over steer decreasing radius turn only to have a army of ants making their way into my socks...
