Is there an easy way to tell what size Fuchs you have?
I have 16" Fuchs with 205's on the front and 225's on the back. What I don't know is the actual rim widths. I know Fuchs came in 6, 7, 8 and 9 inches. I know they aren't 9's. I asked the PO, and he doesn't even know. I haven't taken the wheels off yet to do any measuring, I was hoping I wouldn't have to. Is there any trick or easy way to look at them and say "That's a 7" or "That's an 8"? If it helps, they are on a normal 74 911. Thanks.

If you post pics, I bet someone can tell you pretty easily.
Non 951 8's have a deeper dish to them, similar to 9's. 951 8's look more like 7's. 6's look even more different than 7's. (Looking at the face of the wheel that is). Tires look different on each wheel as well, so if you post what size tire on each wheel pictured, that will help. Edit: If you have a narrow bodied '74, then you should not have 911 8's or 9's. |
The size is stamped on the back.
Or, you could post a picture and I'll let you know. But, even before you do that, I shall use my amazing ESP powers and tell you you have 16x6 on the front, and 16x7 on rear of your car. |
If the above don't work, any tire shop will have big plastic calipers that reach around the tire and read out the rim width. They're used to set up the tire balancer but can be used with the wheels still on the car. I doubt you'd have trouble getting a shop to help you out for free on this one.

Or go to the For sale section and search for Fuchs wheels for sale (active or archived). Several threads will show the wheels as well as the marking on the back of the spoke.
Hope this helps, Sherwood |
6s have a lip profile like this L. It has a 90*bend from the lip to the petals.
7s & 8s have a lip profile like this \_. |
