Tighten those nuts..


Not sure why this never crossed my mind, but I guess it’s just one of those things. If anyone has an old car with the original stacks, tighten down the nuts that hold the stacks to the butterflies. I could not believe how loose they were, and it fixed an issue I had with one stack hissing and popping. After I did this my idle speed dropped 100 rpm’s and I can’t believe how much better my car idles after I re-synched, etc.
Just a heads up.

I have the red-head (wife) check them!

These cars vibrate a lot... everything likes to loosen up. You can always cross-drill the heads and safety-wire them to prevent the problem.

just a dab of Loctite Green (wick in) right above the nut will solve nearly all problems
