Petal Cluster Removal

I started to try and replace the petal cluster bushings as shown in Wayne's book, but saw that the bolts at the back of the cluster had a spot weld on them and the clutch return spring stud was also welded to one of the bolts. Anyone else have this or been able to replace the bushings in this situiation? '78 911 SC.

You have to get under the front of the car and remove the nuts on the welded bolts. If I recall you have to remove the belly pan. Never seen the spring welded though.
