Did Turbo-look have turbo

http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate...Untitled-3.jpg

Did the turbo looks have a turbo script on rear deck or carrera. Mine says turbo. I'm also very tired of explaining to everyone why my "turbo" doesn't have a turbo. Then the look on their face like 'you couldn't afford the turbo so your trying to trick us'. Want to get ride of the turbo and put something else. Any suggestions?

And again

"Turbo look" means that you got a wide-body with some Turbo wheels, suspension- and brake parts. No Turbo motor and certainly no Turbo badge on the rear. It should have a Carrera badge.

From my research it had everything except drivetrain, tie rods, and boost gauge. It 'should' have something other than turbo badge but what? The vice-pres for my local PCA chapter seems to think that it did indeed have turbo badge. Stef is that a fact or is that a 'should'?

It's an odd model, from a performance standpoint. 110 extra pounds, slowed down by drag from the flares and wider tires, with bigger calipers and rotors on a car that was already adequately set up with Carrera brakes.

Then again, it looks awesome.

But it should have a Carrera badge, not a Turbo one. I don't think widebody models got special designations before the C2S and C4S.

Who cares what badge is on there! The thing is AWESOME! You get the look and the reliability of NA.

Enjoy it, whatever you decide. I will sit here green with envy.

It should indeed have a carrera badge.

But the easiest solution is to actually fit a turbo.

Those carrera badges are sooo hard to come by. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif

hehe

TL cars originally came with a Carrera badge, not the Turbo.

Joe,

The way to solve your problem is simple. Just install a turbo http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

Save money on the Carrera badge, buy my turbo engine. I need to sell it because I'm going with a tuned 600 horse twin turbo 3.6. My engine was rebuilt recently by the previous owner. During my pre puchase check in november it came back with 150 compression each cylinder. That's as good as a turbo should get. It has a GHL exhaust and the old exhaust is in my garage. 340 horses.

Sounds enticing Keith. I actually preferred the non-turbo Turbo though. Had plans for a pre-74 RSR-look. Seen it done in 'Excellence' with a 1992 964 RS. WOW. But its now growing on me ugly tail and all. 340 horses would be real nice and can look people straight in the eyes after that. No more "no it not a real turbo but...."

Here's a pic of '92 rs (yes the silver one)

That is very cool. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

If I had the cash that would be my next car.

Keith - ballpark figure on an asking price for your engine?

Doug Zielke 06-14-2001 05:35 AM

So what! Give the average schmo on the street a fit when he's sitting behind you in his chit-box, and sees "Turbo".
You car is a beauty, Joe. Leave it exactly as it is.

PS, talking about the turbo look non-turbo. But I do love the old Carrera's.
