Do you know this Part - MFI gear cover
Does anyone have this MFI Pump Drive gear cover on their car? I have never seen this part before. It just sold on Ebay for $47.
I am converting to MFI and don't have this cover...is it required to keep the belt on the gear? TIA, Bavaria

that is the smog pump cover/ oil return sump support on the 930 turbo OR the sportomatic pump support on an mfi car (even more rare). i can't see the part number clearly
not needed for your mfi install if you have a stick shift

Funny you mention this - I just took apart a 69E engine this weekend and it had the same cover - maybe a 69 only thing? My 70S didn't have it

Well -- by just looking at the part, it seems to be a safety piece to keep the belt on the gear. I was watching the sale on Ebay, but never placed a bid -- not sure if I needed the part. Here is the second pic of the outside:

My car is running without it. Never threw a belt.
