one more dense question

I am having a problem with the high beams on my car. The low beams work fine but whenever I go to use the high beams nothing happens, it stays on low beams. I've tried using the flash (pull back) and the on (push away) with no results. The fuses are good, and from what I was reading in the (gag) haynes manual there is no relays in the headlight system. I hope that it isn?t a turn signal switch.

Any help will be much appreciated.

The same problem on my car turned out to be the turn signal/dimmer switch. Not hard to replace. I actually repaired mine by sanding the contacts with a fingernail file.

How do you get the switch out? According to haynes you have to pull the stearing wheel.

Unbolt the steering wheel and remove it.
The rest should be self-explaining as you then will see how the switch is attached.

Thanks, I hope I can get to this in the next week or so.

There is a tech article on removing the steering wheel. The important part is to not torque against the wheel lock when loosening/tightening the large nut.

Ted,
went through the entire dilemna last year. Before you do anything, replace the bulbs, $10 and the most likely culprit. Check the fuses too. They are defined in the owners manual. You are correct, no relay. When you pull the lense off and look at the bulb (2 filaments) they may look good, take them with you to your parts store and they can check them.
Let us know, the bulbs are cheaper and much easier to replace, and the steering wheel is nothing compared to standing on your head underneath the dash to rewire the turn switch.

P.S. Get a Bentley Manual and use the Haynes for the small shed in the back of your mountain cabin

OPPS- SORRY I thought this question was about Dense , the waitress down at the SC lounge

I managed with a good contact-cleaning in the switch housing, haven't had a recurrence since.

When does Dense get off ? ( yeah, I know, whenever she can .. )
