Garage smells like gas..

I filled up close to home tonight and put the car away in the garage.
Now I smell gas . No leaks, no drips, but smells strong.

Is there a vent, or overflow? Or something needs to be checked?

Or just don't fill it up so full next time. ?

Garage
could have filled into the neck , if the cap isnt sealing perfect the gas would expand out and "push" especially if it was hot that day.

i try not to fill mine just because of slosh and weight , i try to stay between 1/4 at low to 3/4 to me is full ...

Steve... .

look under your drivers wheel well, there is an evapouration canister under there and the hoses often go bad and become brittle bleeding gas through , when this happened to me it disoolved all the under coating so it was easy to spot.
Also if you fittings at the fuel pump are leaking you won't see it as it will hit the sheild underneath , if you want to check this area you have to remove sheild underneath the steering rack.

Good luck

Same thing happened to me once or twice over the years. If I fill up then drive 1 mile straight home, it smells. If I drive more after, then it never smells. I think it is the venting with a really full tank (As in the filler tube has fuel in it too).

Just keep an eye (Nose) on it.

A few thoughts:

- Check the wheel well for the evap canister and lines.
- Check the cork seal in the sending unit of the tank
- Check the big rubber coupler from the filler to the tank, mine leaked
- Check the fuel lines that connect the tank to the tunnel, those lines are also known to fail

Carry a fire-extinguisher ASAP

Check the seal on the gas gap if these is one. I have a 356 car and my garage smelled of gas. I tracked it to a cracked gasket inside the gas cap.

Good luck.
