Monty Magic...Engineering Excellence

After many months I finally scored a pristine Monty Muffler and Cat Bypass pipe. Everything fitted like a a glove with perfect alignment. Sounds fantastic. I must admit my scissor lift made the transformation a breeze.

Dave,

Please warn us about explicit pictures like that. Now I need to take a cold shower.

They are pretty aren't they!

Sound is perfect in my book, just the right amount of subtle nasty to it..........

Mine with SSI's......with my web 20/21 cams it had an awesome idle tone.

you'd think they were made of gold with the monty's prices though!

I paid $600 when gas was nearly what it is now -- in 2004.

I rang Monty for a quote prior to purchase and they said they do not manufacture a bypass pipe. The guy I purchased this off said he imported it from Germany. I must say it is a beautiful piece of work. According to the PO the system was only on for a day! Someone came into his shop and offered him a price for his car that he couldn't refuse but ironically wanted a standard exhaust fitted. His loss, my gain.

These systems come up rarely for sale, the last one I saw was more than 12 months ago and i missed that one. So I am very happy that I was able to secure this one.
Cheers.

I have a dual-in, dual-out one that I might put up for sale in the near future (possibly with some SSIs)...

Here is my Monty question -- can I block off the RH outlet on my 2-in/2-out muffler to convert it into a "normal" single outlet?

Or are the internals different from the other setups where you can do this?

nyne11,

Not meaning to change the subject... Where in god's name did you find a drop-in style 3.8 RS rear wing. I must have one!! Really not into the smooth, one-piece tail/decklids that have the dual element wing.

TIA,

Chris

Here's my question, could one of these type race mufflers give the same results as a cat bypass?

John, to my knowledge, a cat by-pass has no baffles. At least my Fabspeed was straight through. Plus you would have to weld up the flanges just right and add an O2 bung.

How's the '84 doing?

My cat bypass pipe is just that....a pipe. straight through with no baffles.

I thought the premuffler gained you 10+ hp over a cat or just a bypass pipe, was trying to duplicate that.

The picture of the blue C2 has a one-piece tail/decklid. The one on your car and the parts on the floor in the last shot are exactly what I'm looking for.

Maybe someone else will chime in...

Chris
