Rear Sway Bar Console Reinforcement - Pics
Thought you folks might find some use in pics of my recent reinforcement of the rear sway bar console:
1: before with undercoating and primer removed from weld areas http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1253638829.jpg 2) two metric M8 x 1.25 coupler nuts held in place over the original nuts http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1253638857.jpg 3) The butterfly brace cut from a thick piece of galvanized Simpson steel strap http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1253638871.jpg Welded and primed. The coupler nuts are also welded lengthwise to the butterfly brace eliminating the other cause of failure, OE nuts pulling out of the console. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1253638881.jpg |
Steve,
We don't need no WEVO's. I did almost the same thing on a 72 I had years ago (2.8 twin plug-dizzy w minilites). I butterflied it and added a plate with two holes in it over the mounting surface. I am wondering if we need anything more than a good butterfly brace? Nice work! |
I like the additional thread support.
