splippery slope part 1

OK....I decided not to sell my car...instead....its time for a change I have always wanted to do....WIDE BODY time. I plan on using my Fuchs 7 & 8 x16.....what size spacers will I need to use with my stock Carrera hubs to fill out the new flares? The center console will also be removed.....will a 915 shift boot fit over a G50 mount? And one more question.....any suggestions as to best source for IROC front and rear bumper.....best quality over best price.

I was in MAshaw and Getty Design the last couple days.

They seem to have really nice stuff.

Check out their sites.

I think they source from the same place so quality between the too may be equal.

if body wide as the stock turbo, mine had 1" in front and 2" in rear. They look a little narrow though.

eagerly awaiting for you to bring this in! :)

I am eager to have you work your magic on the rear flares and bumbers as well....It may be a month or so before I start. Will you be at the Cars and Coffee thing in a couple weeks? It will be the last time the car will be seen before it goes under the knife (panel cutter) not to be seen again in public until I am finished. I will have the transformation posted on here with lots of pictures I am sure.

the m491 my friend has came from the factory with 7's and 8's His wheels look fine I wonder what spacers they used on those.... I would also think that you could sell the 7's and 8's for almost the same price as what you could pick up 8's and 9's for (using 944 turbo 8's for the front)

If you go to this trouble, wider wheels seem like the proper way to go.

As long as you are on the slippery slope might as well have a set of lindsay 9's and 11's made up :

thanks and fyi I think the getty are supposed to be the best fitting I got my bumpers from racers group and I had to spend a lot to make them fit right.

Based on your sales price, you clearly value your car. Good for you. So why in the world would you bastardize that beautiful car with those modifications? There are plenty of already done wide bodies conversions and real wide bodies out there. Buy one of those and keep you car the way it is.

My 2 cents. . . :)

Hey, it's his car...he can do anything to it that he wants. I'm not sure that adding OEM Turbo front fenders and rear flares constitutes "bastardizing" any differently than converting a nice longhood into a RS or RSR replica and most of us seem to be OK with that.

Right you are. He can, and should, do with the car whatever he pleases. I was playing devil's advocate to his plan. Sorry if "My 2 cents. . . :) " didn't make that obvious.

good for you stormmaster! Your car has been one of my inspirations and I look forward to what you will achieve with this new venture!

*I also advocate wider wheels ;)

berettafan 10-21-2009 08:56 PM

Wider flare, wider wheels and tires, bigger motor....pretty soon we're talking serious $$ here!

stormmaster 10-22-2009 02:24 AM

The engine and suspension are not being touched.....however there are a set of Tru design 9 & 11 X 17s in my future.....
