Angry dead electric windows on an SC

Electric Window problems

Please help…..I have an 81 SC that for some reason the electric windows just stopped working (thankfully in the down position) and I can't seem to figure out why. All of the fuses are fine. I tried swapping relays. There is power to terminals 86 and 30 of the relay. There is a solid ground at 85 but there is no power to pin 87. I am going nuts trying to figure this out. Has anybody else had a similar problem hopefully with a real easy bonehead fix?

Try taking the door panel off and then look at the motor. See if there is power there. If there is and no opertion, new/used motor time...

Not likely both motors went out at once. Before pulling door panels look at common things again such as relay, fuse etc.

Switch?
I recall some topics saying that the solution was a new switch...

I had the exact thing happened to my 83sc

both windows just went dead. I agree that both motors just cant go out at the same time.

the problem? there was a wire that came out of the fuse box in the front. So i took a flat head screwdriver, turned the screw and pushed the wire back in the hole.

problem fixed....

so most likely you have a wire that's come undone somehwere

Oops, missed the both windows part. Agree most likely a switch. But going in behind the panel and lubing the arms is STILL a good idea.

Eric,
These switches are a bit flimsy, and may have burnt or corroded contacts. You can carefully pry them from the door panel, and then check with a multimeter. With a bit of patience, you can take these switches apart. Clean and polish the contacts. Use a little bit of dielectric grease to keep things working.
