How to re-charge AC
Curious on the step involved with adding refrigerant to the system, I have 80 sc with upgraded AC components previous owner spent big $ and said most of the easy to get to lines were replaced...he said if I use the refrigerant from the auto parts store, it will work well for a few months....any tips on how to add and which product to buy.
Thanks for your time. Regards- JS |

Perhaps you could have a pro a/c shop pull a vacuum on the system for a leak check prior to recharge? Regards, mlfox |

If it's only working for a few months your system has a leak somewhere. You need to fix that before charging. Particularly since only the 'easy to get to' lines were replaced. The only line that comes to mind with that description is the one between the compressor & the decklid condenser. Depending on what components the PO replaced. That leaves quite a few feet of ac hose that has not been replaced and as many as 7 more fittings.

I think the best thing to do is to buy mthomas58 and his wife a ticket to come out and give you hand.
