82SC clutch issues
I was leaving a stop light today in my 82 SC and felt a bang....clutch engaged okay and as I looked in the mirror I saw a piece or pieces exit the vehicle. Felt like it was near the pedal box but I'm really not sure.
Right now the car seems to shift fine but with extra effort. I didnt have time to do anything tonight but slid a mirror under the car and the helper spring and clutch spring are still in tact. Any ideas? Thanks |
Sounds like your "horseshoe spring" at the trans broke. You can drive the car for now but you should get it replaced soon.

or they call it a omega spring, time to check all the other componets under there, clutch cable, pedel spring, new clutch, pressure plate, lightweight flywheel, g-50, ssi's, EFi upgrade, new P/C, wooooooh getting ahead of myself. you get the idea "while your in there"

Thanks, you are both correct. The big spring broke! Funny, I kind of thought that was it when I saw it bouncing around in my rear view mirror. Traffic was too busy to go back and hunt for pieces.

Good looking 911, my friend.
those springs can be a PIA to install, if you've never done one. In the thread I posted there are some good tips on getting it done. |
nice!!! how about a tiptronic?

Haha, I managed to install the new omega spring and adjust the clutch without any issues. Great feel! Apparently the old spring had been damaged for quite a while. It used to have a really stiff clutch and now its not much heavier than a honda
