Clutch Spin Problem
I’m having a clutch spin problem with my 78SC. That is, crunching into reverse, hard shifting and clutch not disengaging correctly. Put in a new cable and adjusted it correctly with no success. I’ve pulled the clutch and it seems OK, there is plenty of disc left. I notice that the Sachs clutch as no positive way of pulling a pressure plate back when the clutch is disengaged. It seems to work by centrifugal force and could explain why these clutches seize. I’m wondering whether a new clutch will fix this. Anyone had any similar experience or useful comments? Thanks.

Sounds like you need to adjust it again. If you ve held he clutch in your hand then you ve pulled and lubed the 2 arms on the verticle shaft so they are free, the long spring one that just idles on the shaft and the short arm that actuates the clutch throw out brg.
When you changed the cable, if you didnt turn it in at least 18 turns into the clevis the cable is still too long. Did you make sure the cable outside shield was deeply seated into the nipple on the firewall Bruce |
