Recirculating Air Valve.. do i need it?

Aloha!

I have a 1979 Slantnose with a fresh 84 3.2L engine swap. I have been having problems with the engine stalling and bogging when the AC is on. I may have tracked down the culprit, i believe it might be vacuum leak coming from between the intake manifold and the throttle body. spraying some throttle body cleaner in that area kills the engine. i have ordered a new o-ring gasket and will install them when it comes in and hopefully that fixes this engine stall issue I've been having.

As for the recirculating air valve question, i noticed that there's no recirculating air valve and the hoses coming from the throttle body are plugged. my question is if this may have something to do with the problem i am having or is it ok for my car not to have this valve? what does it do and what can happen with or without this valve?

any help would be great!! thanks in advance!

R.A. Valve

Salut Bobby

As discussed, but for the benefit of the trouble shooters, my 86 3.2 has the R.A. Valve and is hooked up as per Porsche CAT figure 700-00, Hoses # 28, 30 & 38

In the photo, my Valve (item 31) is showing up-side down when compare to the ilustration. Of note, in the CAT item 31 - the Valve, is in brackets (maybe an option???)

Bonne Chance

The oil tank. My understanding of this assembly is that it is intended to reduce throttle body icing.

Cold humid air being drawn through the throttle body at low vacuum can freeze the throttle.

Must be one of my Canadian Equipments which is listed as such (no breakdown list) on the Porsche CoA...

The other one, that I know for sure, is the 0-300 Km Speedometer.

There does not seem to be a part # for "30". A assume any braided hose would work? My '88 seems to be missing this part.

Less of an issue, but you can get throttle body icing in the right conditions if there is no source of warm air.

If you drive up to the top of Haleakala or Mauna Kea you might get icing.
