Removing black tar for alignment
Hi all,
Does anyone have any tips for removing the black tar weatherproofing on the camber plate area? I read that chipping it away with a flathead screwdriver works....and it does....but the going is slow and I'm chipping off paint along with the tar!?!? Thanks, Dan |
Yeah, chipping works but you will have some nicks etc.
I did mine a couple of years ago. Got a spray can of matched india red paint and sprayed the area after sanding/prep. It looks good but I only painted around the shock towers at that time. One of my winter project items is to refinish the rest of the boot area. IMO its much better than before, even as is. Anything but that black crud! The boot carpet covers it all but if you want it perfect like I do then you have to do it right. jt -84 targa |
Here's a trick...
Spray it with locktite "freeze n lube" or any freeze-spray then smack it with a rubber mallet. It shatters off cleanly. |
Thanks for the tips guys, it looks like this will be my weekend project:(
