Pre-muffler on an SC
I have a Fabspeed premuffler which I haven't installed yet. I'm trying to decide if I should use it or not. I live in a county which doesnt do emmissions testing, just a visual. But I'm a little worried they might see the premuffler and realize it's not a cat. Also, will the exhaust smell worse without the cat?
I've seen posts that recommend doing this on 3.2 cars with a chip. But I'm not sure there is much benefit on a SC. So should I use it or sell it?

Matt,
I don't think your exaust will smell any different, although if you have a chip installed you might as well use your premuffler to extract the full benefits. As for the emissions testing, just go with the stock cat and you'll be good to go ... I have a MK premuffler and a Fabspeed two out muffler on my car and i would never go back to original, just sounds too good ![]() Phil

Slap it on there.
The exhaust will not smell any different but the sound will change, for the better. You could always install the cat when inspection times comes around.

As far as sound goes, I have a GHL 1 in 1 out and am very satisfied in that regard. I don't want to have to swap out the cat every year, especially if it's just being done for sound. Is there any performance benefits to using the premuffler on an sc?

I have a Fabspeed Premuffler an my SC, the nice thing about it is that it lowers temperatures on that side of the engine with a *small* increase in power.
Those who have the MK premuffler: does it have some sort of batting or insulation on the inside of it wrapped around the perforated pipe?

Even with the factory cat, these systems were very well designed to get the most power out of the engine. You will notice the sound is a little louder but I doubt you'll feel any increase in power you might gain.
I think my system is pretty close to what you can expect. YouTube - 911 SC Flo-Pro muffler single in/out

Just got and installed my MK pre-muffler. Excellent quality and great fit. Yes it does have what looks to be fiberglass around the perforated pipe. Haven't run it yet as I am awaiting a new oxygen sensor...the old one on the cat seems to be "welded" and just won't budge and of course it is now rounded off. Can't wait
