ok, (after 90 looks later) let me ask: what is the procedure for shooting oil into the combustion chamber. i will figure out the rest. e.g. take out the plugs, shot in X amount of some kind of oil, let it set x days, put in the plugs, turn the engine over. can anyone tell me this as a recommended procedure or do i just pump the gas and see if it fires up???

I would just change the oil, fuel filter, drain the gas tank, have the gas tank cleaned and sealed, At this point I would stick in a new battery and try to fire it up to assess the rest of the fuel system.

If the engine turns over then I would not think that pumping oil in the cylinders would do all that much good... If you are sold on doing it then I would say doing something like changing the oil to some cheap dino oil then pull the plugs and shoot some wd 40 or some marvel mystery oil in and letting it soak couldnt hurt ... let it sit for a half day then spin it over with the plugs out.... I have fired up a half dozen cars that have sat for similar amounts of time and never done this ... if they turn by hand...

I would however, change the oil again after you do that... to some brad penn ... I would not try to turn it over with the 7 year old oil in it this is why I list the 2 seperate oil changes if you plan to do it.

a little marvel mystery oil - shoot in all the plug openings - turn the engive over by hand to get good and lubricated - then do what larry suggests. wouldn't worry about letting it sit unless the engine is frozen.

On all engines sitting for a long while we pressure lubricate them with new oil from a 5 gal spray paint tank with a regulator set at 50 psi.

We then pull the plugs and try to crank over the engine a few times.

If all this works as expected, we then try to run it using fresh gas and a thoroughly clean tank & new fuel filter.

Rather be safe than sorry.

Hi Len,

You got me curious on the pressurize the oil system response. Do you hook it up to the feed side line and pump it up to 50 psi? I am trying to visualize that going through the pump... This is a pure curiosity question since I have not seen that done before.

Larry
