Rich,
I went with 22/28 size, I don't remember the total price but for the sways and tbars it was a few grand if I remember right. I was up late with my dad, he got pretty sick and is in ICU. |
Well….
It looks like Matt Skytrooper’s question got answered and we successfully hijacked the thread for Rich82SC – OK since Matt got his info. The best advice above are: The 1” wider wheels and tires, tires, tires. The ‘right’ tires make more difference in your car than anything else you can do. Do the suspension all at once. You can collect parts, modify parts, have the rear sway bar mounts welded and more. Wait until you get home. You will enjoy participating ‘hands on’ and DIY if you want. You want the tires new then. Just a thought: You have your C4S for ‘civilized’ driving. The Cayenne S as a tow vehicle (with permission). Why not the 911SC as a ‘hot rod’? Check out: Excellence Magazine There is nothing there you can’t do. While Ft. Hood rated A/C will add some weight, a larger engine will compensate. Just a thought. Best wishes to you and your Ft. Hood family. Sincere condolences for the results of a crazy world. You be careful. Thank you for your service. Best, Grady |
Intriguing! I tried to search IIRC with no joy! Can you tell me who has them?
Ok, let’s say I go with whatever sway bar. As I understand and agree I need to do the suspension as a system and the bass of that system starts with T-Bars then S-Bars. Elephant Racing has stated (on the phone) they are very good… why would they say otherwise? But what T-bars should I (would you) buy if you were going to do it? I looked at a package from smart racing and also elephant. I was thinking about a mix of both? Furthermore what size rear and front (MM)? I like driving and driving hard… I do want to do some DE but not sure I would become a every weekend participant. Thanks for all your time and comments. |
Rich,
My sways are 23 front and back and tbars are 22/28. I have no experience with Elephant but Ive heard good things. That set up works for me because my car is a daily driver too and it isn't too rough on the streets. |

Anyway, a good street/track set up is 22/28 tbars. I bought mine from Pelican and have been very happy. That works well with 86 Carrera sway, which are a bit stiffer than the pre-86 versions. I think it is a 22 front, 19 or 20 rear. |
Glewis80SC sorry to hear about your Pop! I hope all is well. Thanks for the size update I did not realize we had moved to page two before I sent in my response.
Grady Clay great article in Excellence, thanks. I’m just not sure I want to get so far away from the stock look of the car. For Texas your correct and I do need to address some A/C issues but keeping the look of the car is also important to me. I just purchased the “classic WEVO” short shift kit and H2 lamps. I’m going to paint the rims to match the current brown. Some joker put BS after market Audiovox rear speakers so I had to buy a replacement stock rear deck panel. I also bought the upgraded 16X7&9 that I plan to put Eagle GTs on. Everything listed is still in a box at the house waiting for my 2 week break half way between this deployment. I wanted to address the body roll I feel on hard cornering. That is why I became interested in the suspension upgrade. I’m not opposed to a complete street/track setup; I just don’t want my mechanic telling me what he wants to do because he has an “in” with a company he buys parts from. Hence the “Please educate me” thread got me started. I did not mean to hijack Matt! Smile… |
Take a look at Elephant Racing. They offer a complete matching set of components designed for your needs.

Rich - you also want to replace EVERY piece of rubber in your suspension. New rubber everywhere, except where you elect to use the Elph. polybronze.
You can also try 21/27 on the t-bars, esp. if you have substantially lightened your SC. You have ALREADY replaced your rubber brake hoses, I hope! Chuck's web site has suggested "levels" of susp. mods. based on various factors, including: - intended use - age - presence of wife/gf and last but FIRST - TIRES! |
