RPMs drop when I turn headlights on - is this normal?
The title pretty much says it...The RPMs drop about 200 when I turn on the headlights. Is it supposed to? I dont recall that it used to do that. Any ideas on the fix, assuming it is bad?
Thanks, Farrell

Mine dip about 100 or so then recover immediately. It's from the additional current that instantaneously loaded the electrical system...

Doesn't sound normal to me. It it a true RPM drop or is just the tach reading dropping?

The tach drops and the idle changes - almost like when I turn the AC on.

definitely not normal. Possible VR or alternator issue.

check your ground , especially the battery to body , and the tranny to engine/body
if either are bad your electrical system is in trouble , and this may be its way of screaming for help ...
