No electrical Power

Hello,

I have a 1980sc and the only thing that works are the hazard lights! I thought it was the battery which was shot. I bought a new battery and the same thing.....I get nothing no head lights, turn signals. Is this the ignition switch? If so How do I get it out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

1980 911sc No electrical power

I managed to remove the ignition switch. I still get no headlights, interior lights, blinkers wont turn starter nothing! I just replaced the alternator but don't see how that would cause this. The only thing that works is the hazard blinkers????

Help please!

Can you read wiring diagrams? Here is the link to '83SC wiring diagrams which are similar to your car in the areas of concern:

Pelican Parts - Porsche 911 Parts Listings & Diagrams

The hazard blinkers get power from the battery via a different circuit from the other items you list. The other items get power through the ignition switch. Power from the battery arrives at the ignition switch using three wires attached to terminal 30 of the switch plug. Power to the lights leaves via terminal X of the plug; there should be two wires at terminal X. Do you have 12 volts at terminal 30? If not, there is a break in these three wires between the ignition switch plug and the battery; since a simultaneous break is unlikely, if there is not 12 volts at terminal 30 of the ignition switch plug check to see if these three wires have become disconnected at the positive terminal of the battery. If there is 12 volts at the ignition switch terminal 30 the ignition switch may be bad.
