Actual build date

Hi All, I would like to know the actual build date of my late 80s 911. I have found the chassis number decoder but this tells me the model year not actual build date. Is the imformation out there any way? Thanks.

You can get the month and year off of the tag on the driver's door jamb. You can order a certificate from Porsche that will give you the actual date.

Cabriolet # 70

The door VIN Sticker shows the Month & Year while the CoA go down to the day; 11/27/82

Has been slightly modified since her birth...

if their info is correct there are a lot of differing opinions on this topic , misinformation, conflicting or dead on or just dead wrong ... depends on who you ask about the Porsche birth certificate ???

Don't bother spending $100 on a COA. Call PCNA Customer Care at 800-PORSCHE and they will tell you the car's exact date over the phone for free. All you need to give them is the VIN.

COA does not provide a day that I know of. Could you pls. post a picture of one with day/date. Thanks

The 10th character in your Porsche's VIN tells you the model year. 1985 to 1990 was from F to L. Sometimes the model year does not quite comply with the build year. I have a 1987 model but it was first built and delivered at the end of 1986.

This can be seen from the example above. The 10th character in the VIN is "D" which signifys 1983 model but from the papers you can see it was built and delivered in 1982

Hi,

I ordered a COA for my 77 and the letter that came with it said their records were missing both the build date and the MSRP. So even getting the COA might not help you out, but it is nice to have!

I just called the 800-PORSCHE number just like Porschenut (Dave) recommended and spoke to a very helpful associate, who within 2 minutes gave me the actual build/production date (mm/dd/yyyy) of my car.....10/29/1973

I've been wanting this info for years......Thanks Dave for letting us know about this...it was very helpful! :D

Sometimes you get lucky and get full details, other times you are SOL. I don't know just how complete their records are, or if it is the competence of the person preparing the certificate. I do know that there are some gaps in the records, and possibly some errors as well. Then there is the matter of translation and interpretation.

I made the call re: my '72 911E last Wednesday. Friday, I got a call from PCNA
saying they couldn't come up with a build date for this car. I wonder how their
records have these "gaps" in them?
Anyone have a '72 on either side of #414 with a build date?
