915 clutch adjustment problems

i have recently replaced the clutch cable and clutch helper spring trying to get a better feel (mushy) from the clutch. After replacement and adjustment i still get about and 2 inches of dead feeling pedal. I did make sure i set the cable with 25.4 mm of throw. and also set the clutch arm gap at 1.0mm. It just feels like the helper spring does not have enough strength to return the pedal to top position . Please help!!

You probably have your cable too short and need to adjust it at the pedal end a few turns. Then readjust the tension on that cable. There is a fine line between having enough bow in the bowden tube and the length of the cable inside the tube. The bowden tube (the cable sheath) acts as spring against the torsional twist when you engage the clutch. If it is too tight the omega spring can't pull back against the pedal hard enough. What your trying to do is get tension on the cable to be in balance via the bend in the bowden tube vs the omega spring, the last inch of pedal travel is where the omega spring snaps back to a rest position.

magic 930, wow that is a technical response thanks! .... ok so the bowden cable has a bend in it, how do you adjust this bend, or do you not adjust it? i have the cable almost max out in adjustment to make the cable short as possible. this is the only way i could get the 25.4mm of clutch cable movement????

When you adjust the position of where the cable attaches to the transmission you are effectively putting more or less bend in the bowden tube. If you are running out of adjustment room then as I mentioned your cable may be too short and you should lengthen it a little at the other end (where it attaches to the pedal) On my 930 transmission the bowden tube bends up above the throttle linkage about 3/4 of an inch. I forgot to mention that before you start adjusting anything make sure the clutch cable tube is seated properly, the clutch cable casing goes over another steel tube that protrudes from where the cable comes out from the firewall.

Another mushy clutch

How do you know if your helper spring is bad? I have taken everything apart and lubed and put it back together and well same old story! I replaced the clutch cable and I have rebuilt the pedal cluster. The spring seems good to go what am I missing?
