does anyone have a breakdown of service hours for general work on the 2.7's?
 

I've been looking through the tech articles and would just like a better understanding of the time involved for general repairs. If I get in a 911 I will be buying a few books!

Take a look at Wayne's 101 Projects book:

It shows time and difficulty for many service items - which are about the same for most 911s - even the 2.7's.

Despite the BS from those who do not own them, the 2.7 is very reliable and the only real trouble you might encounter is with the CIS - the very same system used on SC cars.

I agree. They are great cars, but I am biased as I own a 74. Just need three things to have positive repair and tuning experiences:

1. Buy Waynes Book: Tells you what you need in terms of parts and preparation

2. This board is a wealth of information that supports what Waynes books says as well as the individual experiences and unique situations that help you save time and avoid mistakes already made. The tips, tricks and perspective make all the difference in the world.

3. A fellow Pelican's that always step up and are there to help in person.


If you add about an addl hour or two for first time experiences and prep the car for the work being done i.e. assemble you tools, parts, etc., Waynes book is pretty accurate from a time perspective. Simple oil change alone can take an addl hour if you dont take advice for those who know . . . . ask me how I know? I owned a 69 912 prior to buying my 911. 912 holds 4 quarts of oil, 911 10 quarts, wrong oil pan = EXXON VALDEZ . . . . I am sure this has never happened to anyone else HA HA HA
