I have a 71e I'm interested in putting a 930 gear box into. The one I'm about to purchase is from a 78-79 930. Is this a shortbellhousing? Or is the Short B. A 'special' type..?....I thought It was just the early years they made 930's
Thanks..................Rsc |

Tlook,
75-77 were the years for the short bell housing and they went to the long style from 78-on If you can get a short bh at a reasonable price get it.....racers were snaping them up and they were in great demand for awhile but when the G50 came on the scene the demand did drop for 930 box...but since it was only made for a few years the short 930's are getting harder to find in good condition. the long boxes are common and should be priced as such. Hello ,
you can also shortn a later 930 trans , by taking .970" milled off the ball housing and the same amount off the main shaft , then you have to make up a new centering ring fo r the bell housing , and also make up a new front trans mount to move the 930 trans closer to the front of the body by 1.25"....that is what i did to fit a later 930 trans in a 911 body ... work still in process ![]() thanks Joe |
