Unhappy Alarm keyfob dilemma. HELP!!!!

Hi, I had a new battery fitted in my remote keyfob this morning by local shop. Now I am back to my car the keyfob, though the little red light comes on when the button is pressed, will not open the central locking. I can open the door with the key but then the siren sounds.
Its a 1985 3.2 Carrera and I am desperate for the car.
Can anyone help please?????
Regards

Jammo.

It sounds like the FOB has changed programme during the batery change. Try this as a quick fix to reprogramme it

1. Make sure all doors, hood and trunk are closed.

2. Open the trunk door.

3. Open the drivers door and sit in the drivers seat.

4. Close the drivers door.

5. Turn ignition switch to on and off 5 times ending in off.(do not start the car turn to just before starting)
Your alarm light will turn on and the siren on the alarm will chirp to let you know it is ready.
(this can also be used to test if you have the alarm)

6. Open the drivers door stay in the seat close the drivers door.

7. Press any button on the remote. The light will flash to indicate your remote has been programmed.

8. Repeat steps 6 & 7 to program any other remotes, up to 4 remotes a car.

9. To exit program mode open drivers door leave the door open. Close the trunk lid and close the drivers door the
siren should chirp again and the red light will shut off. Test your remotes to make sure they work right.

******Note all the steps from 2 - 5 must be done within 45 seconds. Step 5 must be done within 10 seconds.

Ignore my last post. That will reset the code in the car but the FOB should be standard. HAve you tried opening it and cleaning the contacts with alcohol?

Thumbs up

Twistoffat,
How the hell can I repay you??????
When I got your first reply I took the laptop and followed your instructions several times, right to the letter (much to the annoyance of the locals) the siren was going on and off....
I then saw your second post and stripped the remote and did as you said.

WORKS PERFECT NOW

The keyfob, whenever I used it, put a little red light on in the fob - this has changed to a very fast flash and the locking has never worked so quick and easy.

I owe you a drink somehow.
Thanks for your brilliant help.
Regards

Jammo.
